Furthermore, being an Apple lover and seeing how its products only reached a select group while the masses still remained PC users, Jimmy wanted to take Apple products out from the usual geek haunts and put them into the shopping malls of Orchard Road. It started with a dream to provide consumers with a retail experience that showcased the benefits of digital living rather than purely pushing IT products. We speak to the CEO of EpiCentre, Jimmy Fong, to find out how it all began. Yet, only a decade ago, you’ll be hard pressed to find a Mac user let alone find a store that’s dedicated to Apple products and accessories. If you were thinking of buying a Mac computer or any Apple product for that matter, chances are you’ll pay your nearest EpiCentre store a visit first. The ad also uses animated figures instead of real life human beings and this adds to its uniqueness as it breaks away from the stereotypical type of advertisements on the streets.Jimmy Fong, the Founder of EpiCentre, shares with us his dream that led to the opening of the first Apple retail store in Orchard Road. This advertisement again from Apple to me is a very good advertisement as it uses a wide variety of colors and usually images with many colors would appeal more to the public eye, drawing attention very easily. However this ad to me is is not a very good ad as although colorful images are used, it appears to be rather plain or simple, which may or may not be able to attract the public’s eye. I think this other advertisement by Apple as it uses a variety of soothing pastel colors besides their standard black and white iPad. Although there is not much text in this advertisement, the images used are more than enough to describe clearly how the product is. This advertisement is for the iPad 2 that is being sold in EpiCentre also located at I think that this a good ad as it uses bright and pastel colors that is pleasing to the eye. Instead of using the stereotype designs using boards with colors, words or images, the decoration plays with contemporary art adding a twist of design which would definitely to me be able to have patrons take notice of it. This image may not be an advertisement for Esprit but I feel that it is an exclusive design to the store. With no extravagant designs, patterns or loud colors, this advertisement is still able to give an impression of simplicity and class which is in my opinion what the store has to offer to its patrons. This advertisement similarly from Esprit again is a simple design. It tops up with a striking orange illuminated colour as the outline of the bodies.Īnother advertisement at another store, Esprit, which is also located at Personally I feel that this is a good ad as it uses striking colors such as gold and instead of using common fonts, it chooses to paint a Chinese word calligraphy style in gold making it very prominent and eye-catching. The ad theme is based on what the store is selling and therefore going with the different positions of women exercise since Puma is in the sports area. However, personally I think that this ad is not very appealing as it uses indistinct colours such as black and dark red which makes the entire advertisement less captivating and in turn will not be able to draw a crowd to it.Īnother advertisement placed in the stores of Puma which personally I think is not the typical everyday design. This next advertisement is also from the same retail store, Puma. Instead, Puma chooses to have balloons to have their message and icons imprinted on them, giving it a leap to get attention from anywhere. Orchard Road Field Trip – 313 advertisement located outside the shop of Puma in I think this ad is rather innovative as it breaks out from the customary designs of advertisements just plainly having words or small images in an attempt to convey their message.
